DeepMind AI finds new way to multiply numbers and speed up computers
Matrix multiplication - where two grids of numbers are multiplied together - forms the basis of many computing tasks, and an improved technique discovered by an artificial intelligence could boost computation speeds by up to 20 per cent
I’m sorry Dave. I’m afraid I can’t let you do that.
Dammit HAL what's the problem?

Many people didn’t realize that the name HAL was picked as the 3 letters before IBM.
Actually I never realized that either 😆 it makes a lot of sense though!
IBM provided the tech for the Nazis to maintain the records on the exterminations.
I was in a class about 25 years ago and the prof gave up teaching Laplace transforms for process control because most of the students didn't get it. I confess I didn't really understand what was going on with them. Maybe this has something to do with that sort of thing.
Was it a college engineering class where you were being taught Laplace Transforms? The professor does not sound that good if he gave up.
If you ever heard of the Fourier Transform, that transforms signals in time space to the frequency space (instead of seeing the signal amplitudes in time, you see the frequency or # of times the same signal amplitude range pops up over a given time period).
Laplace Transform is just a generalized Fourier Transform (its the same thing but covers a wider range than the Fourier Transform)

Anyways matrix multiplication or deep learning neural networks is not necessarily involved with laplace transforms. However finding a new way to compute matrix multiplication faster is extremely useful and makes computing power much more efficient. More can be done in the same period of time.
I'll have to look at it. TY. Most of what I learned I've forgotten now. If you don't use it you lose it.
Golf and shooting aren't the only perishable skills.
I understand, professors tend to introduce it in the worst way possible as well
Multiplication can be done by graphs and intersection. That's how Asians do it. PC are great at it.
Example. 2x11=22
Cross the lines
Count intersections.
Scales.

Not related, but I like showing tricks.
Yes but we're talking about matrix multiplication. You know like multiplying a (4x2) matrix with a (2x4) matrix.

Its different than just regular multiplication taught in grade school.
Your computers are constantly doing matrix math.
This site also has articles about using cow spit as sexy time lube and black holes spitting out matter. Sounds interesting.
😅 I didn't really check it out
Then stop.
You're glowing.
I'm not a glowie fren I'm just posting up content I'm finding.
Yes, irrelevant off topic and prolific content. Glowie forum sliding.
Hm, something good must be happening...
