I'm keeping busy and feeling better for it. Lovely warn day today, had fun cleaning my greenhouse. Surrounded by tons of apples which I am eating, giving away and bottling. God is good.
I love love love apples. I don’t know if you have these in your area, but try a tango apple. They’re only out in September and October. They taste like an Apple jolly rancher! They make great caramel apples as well. Wink wink! God bless and have a great night.
At the moment I am scoffing Mother (called American Mother in the UK, dual dessert and cooker), they are delicious. Sweet enough when cooked not to need sugar. I have 19 old varieties, they are wonderful.
Please send me the recipe. I would love to try new things. I find that some of the recipes on the Internet are underwhelming. I am confident in knowing some thing that would come from you, and the Cotswolds, would be delicious. Hands-down!
I just peel, core, slice the apples and cook till soft. A combination of Golden Noble, which cooks to a puree, and Am Mother which keeps its shape, works well. They don't need sugar. Freeze or bottle, I use Kilner jars. Great for pies and crumbles or on its own with cream or yogurt.
