I wonder exactly what kind of scanning they're doing on this. Is it merely a file size, checksum sort of thing where they are looking for exact matches to known videos, or are they actively scanning the video with audio and/or video comparison tools. Now that I type it, probably the latter.
I was wondering if simply encoding the video to another size would bypass the censorship - probably not as platforms like Twitch already scan audio to perform DMCA takedowns of even background music used in streams.
Encryption / Compression it is.
Since Google owns Youtube they're probably using their Youtube tools. I would imagine they can scan the audio to generate a signature. Sort of how Shazam works. They're definitely analyzing the audio/video versus doing a file size checksum.
