I think I was born suspicious. Even in my teens when people asked me if my glass was half full or half empty I’d say “what glass”. Pessimist aren’t disappointed and when something good happens it’s a nice surprise.

I would call that discernment. It’s like not having spoken to a family member in awhile and the moment they open their mouth you know. It will never be something good but always something wrong or worrying news.
