Well actually the Continental Line were issued uniforms but they were treated terribly by the Continental congress. It's a miracle they stayed for the duration. It was only about 20,000 of them at any one time, and often fewer than that. Heck some of them in Dec 1776 were bare foot marching to Trenton. And Valley Forge is a testament to the American Patriot and a condemnation of the politicians, even at that time.
But your point is well taken. The militia didn't have uniforms and they were the Victor's at King's Mountain.
Remember OUR patriots in the Revolution did NOT wear uniforms and badges. Who won?

The only uniform I wear is the one stained with the blood of tyrants, the tears of liberals, and the sweat from my president's balls of steel.
