Depends on the contract, I don't know what the contracts with Twitter are like. It also depends on if you're an individual contractor or a perm employee contracted out by another firm (seconded role.) I've been in seconded roles where the client had to give my parent company notice but I've seen contractors at my parent company let go with a days notice.
In the trade this is known as a 'contractor cull'.
