Christine McVie, the British keyboard player and co-vocalist in Fleetwood Mac whose honeyed voice steered numerous hits, died Wednesday. She was 79.
A member of Fleetwood Mac for more than 50 years – with a few intermittent breaks – McVie imbued their sound with a feathery touch.
The band posted a statement on their official social media accounts calling her “one-of-a-kind, special and talented beyond measure. She was the best musician anyone could have in their band and the best friend anyone could have in their life … We cherished Christine deeply and are thankful for the amazing memories we have.”
Fleetwood Mac’s representative, Kristen Foster, confirmed McVie’s death to USA TODAY.
According to McVie’s family, she “passed away peacefully at (the) hospital following a short illness.”
Fleetwood Mac had some pretty good songs over the years, but I have to admit I have a weakness for one of their songs that I actually prefer over the others - it is from when Bob Welch was with the band back in the 70's. From the album Mystery to Me, there was a song named Hypnotized. Good, steady beat. You can hear McVie and Stevie Nicks doing the background vocals on that one. To each his own, I guess.

Thanks, I totally forgot about that video and hadn't seen it for years. Haunting tune to say the least.
Thank you! Haven't heard or thought about this one for decades.
My favorite also! “North Carolina and a strange strange pond”. I always thought they were saying “Hypmotized” instead of “Hypnotized”. I lived in North Carolina for a few years and will go back when I retire.
"The sides were like glass, in the thick of the forest, without any road....and if any man's hand had made that land, then it would have showed." Haunting lyrics. Having driven through western North Carolina a few times [I live in eastern Tennessee], I always wondered if I was even close to where Bob Welch was referring.
I also lived near Bulls Gap, TN., for 3 years. Love the area!
Reminds me of Jimi Hendrix's Pali Gap.
