Most look like younger law enforcement. A LEO friend of mine has told me that the policy & rule makers have been making really bad decisions (ie sped up the "speed of stupid" decisions) for the past 10 years. Most almost all of the officers who were serving when he started have retired early, or just quit due to their inability to work with the overwhelming BS in the system.
IMO This has caused a large mental shift where newer LEO just follow orders because they have never seen what the older generation officers where doing or how the older generation officers stood up for their constitution.
He thinks that most officers still support the constitution & just do not know that it was a much better work environment with more discretion available to the officers in the past & haven't been able to learn how older officers used that discretion better in the past.
He also is putting in for his own retirement as soon as he is able to plus a few moths because of the corruption in the administration that he has seen rob a couple other officers of their retirement by fudging numbers with squabbles over verbal vs written vacation days.
Once he is gone, I think that entire unit/division will be filled with a much bigger "yes men" mentality & ones that focus more on force than restraint. That said, he is in a specialty unit that I agree needs to be more focused on use of force more quickly than the average street cop.
I have had great experiences & relationships with police. If what I have said gets you worried about police, I strongly encourage you to go & get to know your sheriff & local police force on a personal level. Become at the very least acquaintances with as many of them as you can. This goes a long way towards leway if SHTF regarding a friend wanted to restrain as much force as possible & also new friends are awesome!
That’s why I stated “certain Law Enforcement”, it’s all good, we don’t know each other. But my Cousin is a CalFire Captain and we have several mutual family friends that are Sheriff and Highway Patrol, and Cal-Rangers. The elected Sheriff crew and most of these folks listed above do not bend to the left. But they don’t always enforce Obstruction of Justice or investigate shit they know is a breach of law and Constitution by arresting these clearly corrupt politicians either. And my family friends agree it’s wrong but they must protect their own livelihood, family, and retirements from being obliterated if they stand their ground. And yes most of the good officers and people are retiring or moving to Red States, to avoid the lefty social media backlash.
Then there are the overwhelming amount of “Yes Men” City Police, that are the biggest issue around the country. Not all of course, but many or their departments are as sickly as the system that governs them. And they can’t see passed the orders to comply.
