The public sure isn't making a cent from their freely given and EULA given data. Yet it is seemingly a trillion dollar industry collectively across all fields.
NFTs are just the newest flavor. And quiet right with the in-game purchase comparison! I agree. It reminds me a bit like paying for in game skins, flashy perhaps but no resale value.
I don't think any of us know exactly why or where this is heading. If I had chips to bet, it would be this is a precursory move to further exemplify crooked crypto schenanigans ala the recent FTX revelations and somehow link similar corruption back to more public/normie recognized entity: ETH.
And yet people here have praised NFTs, even though it's totally shit.
Virtually backed ANYTHING is stupid no matter how much you try to artificially limit it. It is not the same as real precious metals, of which only a certain amount exists on Earth and we've likely found most of it.
Highly amused that in a digital world we've tried to do things like create NFT JPGs. Literally image files, where owning "the original" doesn't mean shit because nothing stops me from using it as a wallpaper or displaying it when it's screen captured.
Money laundering and Ponzi schemes are everywhere.
Yep. NFTs, crypto, stonks.... It's all the same. It's all a rigged game with rigged winners and predetermined losers (public/normie suckers).
But SILVER (in hand) is REAL.
I couldn't help but smell the scam with NFTs, it's like "I own this gif and it's worth 10k" then I right click-> copy -> paste, now I have it too.
It's bad enough that people pay for in-game character clothes, now it's thinking you can own digital objects.
...and yet personal data is worthless?

and now Trump has fully jumped into the NFT game. SMH!
Seemingly, yet to be determined.

There are some use cases for NFTs but things like in the article don’t do them any favors.
