I mostly agree with you on this, but my thinking is taking into account that candidates are different. Trump would have different sets of people around him. Some would be campaign people that are responsible for getting him reelected, while others (assuming the Plan is real and still in place) would be government and can't be involved with the campaign people to any real extent. The campaign people would very likely know nothing about any existence of a plan, and even if they did know the concept of Q they couldn't be involved.
It is entirely possible for us to trust the plan, but at the same time his campaign people could do something stupid that conflicts with whatever the Q team is doing or has planned. Q can plan all they want, but as soon as some campaign staffer tells some reporter that the campaign is planning XYZ it could be too late to change that.
Lets say Q plans a full-out raid on the 7th floor of the FBI on Jan 1. The campaign knows nothing about that, and they commit Trump to a holiday prime-time TV interview live. Trump might need to remain in the shadows, and there may be people around him that need to make appearances in both the media appearance and the raid. If the campaign suddenly has to cancel when someone from the Q team tells them Trump can't do TV that date for some fake reason it will be very clear when the raid happens he probably knew about it. Something like this is entirely plausible.
That's why I trust the plan as far as the Q Team can control it, but there are certain things that could very well be out of their reach for multiple reasons. I think the technical term is "shit happens".

Well said.
