Parallel the alcohol prohibition and the rise of American bootleggers and mafia… it created the need and desire for FBI and BATF.

Poverty and disparities drive people to want to feel better. It’s multifaceted. Nixon flat out said he started the drug war to destabilize the peace /hippie movement.

We wouldn’t have needed a war on drugs if the federal government/CIA hadn’t got involved and helped facilitate getting them here and making them.
