The main reason people start doing drugs, especially when young, is because they are not supposed to. It is forbidden. If you do drugs, you are an outlaw, you are cool. Take that away and you would have fewer young people starting doing drugs. Unfortunately, there will always be addicts, whether it's legal or not. Legalization would allow for quality control, and additional taxation. All that money could then be spent on getting the addicts off the drugs. Also it might remove the stigma of "addict" from people that genuinely need opiates because of chronic pain.
The so called war on drugs is a complete farce. We all know the CIA is in the drug business so they can fund their black projects. It is simply another way the cabal gets the right hand to fight the left hand. Legalization would not only likely decrease the number of addicts, it would choke off the cabals main funding source. They make billions. The black market would still exist, but it would be much smaller.
Well,,, that wasn’t my reality or any of my friends that I know of.
From my perspective we did it bc it was fun, felt good, gave us an experience that we didn’t get while sober, made concerts incredible, sometimes allowed for introspection, cheaper than drinking at a bar (unless you’re being stupid and go ballz to wall), makes for a hell of a story and on and on it goes.
Also, alcohol is legal and I drank my ass off through high school. Many of our parents drank so it wasn’t like we were doing this major taboo thing that made us think we were cool. Nope, just wanted to get drunk and hook up.

No, they would just buy up the companies that make it and get richer legally. GREAT, another OxyContin for doctors to over prescribe. GENIUS!
People also do hard shit to drown away their legitimate sorrows - abuse at home, abuse as a child, abuse at work, etc. Binge/overeating is also included in that.
