Think about it... Why does the phone need a new OS every month... What are all of these software updates? Remember the software update disclosures/agreements are different that those provided when you buy the phone.... What happens to the data every night when your phone auto-syncs.... Look at your plan data use and see how much gets used each time it syncs...
It us a freaking phone for fucks sake... A camera and a web browser... Flip phones never needed to sync every night and change the OS every 30 days... What changed??? All this sensors... Light and motion and gps....
agree entirely. I just ditched my smartphone last week for a flip phone - its crazy how many things even I took for granted, and it has been difficult adjusting to not having all of those tools/internet at my fingertips whenever i needed it. But Im trying to stick with it because i know its better for my happiness, and better for my privacy
You can overcome a lot of the basic tools apps with a wifi device or something like an old palm pilot.. While most flip phones have basic cameras, calculators and browsers....Something with no carrier controlled connection to the "source"/corp website adds a nice barrier to the sensors which could be misused...and Viola.. not monthly OS updates, no nightly sync.....
