I've worked really hard for a few years trying to push out quality info created by our community, building an archive to share with everyone. Now it seems it's all behind a pay-wall for profiteering. Information shouldn't be accessible via a subscription for profit. I'm deeply saddened by this.

How Embarrassing!

...it is your content...
...why don't you just move it some place more accommodating?
Backing up data costs money.
i had an idrive account and closed it and they were still trying to bill me after about 3 years after I canceled it.
same for norton, still trying to bill me after closing it 4 years ago
we need to identify these companies, they were all advertised on news platforms that I trusted. now they are harassing previous customers.
when the companies get sold out, so do the customers.
Back it up on your computer.
My main concern really is profiting off of the movement. This should be a labor of love, a pure effort for humanity. Once you start making money off of it you are set up to be compromised and fucked.
...I concur completely....
Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man. Matt 15:11
If there is compromise and fuckery in your heart, it will emerge, whatever you do. If there is none, then how would it emerge?
If you are doing it for the purpose of profiting, then sure, you're screwed to start with. Whether you produce anything or not.
However, people need to eat, pay rent, live, feed families often, etc. If spending time, effort, work means that they cannot continue what they do, why would it make sense to ok, NOT taking in a subscription but also NOT produce anything that helps? because you have to do something else to survive?
Nope, I contribute some, just my personal take on things. It just seems that our “thought leaders” want money. It’s quite a bit of them. Merch, subscriptions to content, I feel our movement has been corrupted.
Sorry to be blunt, J, but I think you are seeing something that in fact lies in your own heart.
For some reason, you seem to be incapable of seeing the good reasons why people might do this. Instead, you see people who want money, selling merch, subscriptions in order to....line their pockets?
So 'thought leaders' who spend 8, 10, 12 hours a day working hard, sacrificing their time and sweat to research, collate, write, produce, etc, should be doing it for free, because they are all ..... millionaires?
Projection, J. Projection.
If you are on substack, you can certainly allows subscriptions that cost nothing. If you are in a position, why not make that choice? But I think the corruption you see in others may in fact be the corruption you fear in your own heart. Sorry to be blunt, but I don't know what else to say.
If you REALLY want to see corruption, here, look at this website (posted by penisse). THAT's the real corruption in our movement. Clickbait, fear porn, grifting scams.

Real researches who work hard at what they do deserve and often need to be supported so that they can actually do what they do. If you are wealthy enough and blessed enough that this is not the case for you, you should count your blessings, instead of seeing evil in others because they are not so blessed.....
That's my $0.02.
best of luck to you.
...the goose that laid the golden egg....
I don't pay to subscribe to anything, nor do I donate money to anything, other than directly to people I know need the help, and they are third-world relatives. I support our cause with my time.
Does archive.ph work?
It does, but if the content is behind a pay wall it doesn’t matter.
Try this site, Fren:

Looking forward to trying this. Many thanks fren o7
I guess it depends on the type of pay wall? I use the archive website to get around the pay wall at the epoch times for example.
Epochtimes is the ONE organization that I have a standing subscription to (around $5 a month) because the work they do is excellent and the role they play is incredibly worthwhile imo.
While I won't chide anyone for not doing that, I am personally very happy to do that.
My mother in law has a subscription and somehow gave me free access through hers. However, if I share anything with other people, I send an archive link so they're not behind a pay wall. ☺️
The archive method is a good way to spread stuff. However, I would say that MOST of Epoch Times content is actually free. They have a premium section, but a lot of their content isn't actually paywalled.
What content have you created that is behind a paywall, J?
I don't understand how it could be behind a paywall unless you put it there...
Where? What paywall
