Even though my entire field relies on data on purchasing patterns and preferences, I only want people releasing that data willingly and with the knowledge of how I plan to use it.
Yes.. we will have a policy for that.
Most sites do have a policy and will tell you.
The problem.
Most people won't care to read the policy.
Even if you put in features that allow people to opt-out.
A lot of customers won't care to use them.
That's why I don't think the mass majority cares about data collection in general.
People will care if they find out the CIA is using that data.
No one wants a government spy to use their information.
Besides that. I think the mass majority are ok with using it for ads.
As long as the ads aren't overly annoying.
So it's not about data collection in my eyes.
It's about who has access to it.

From my standpoint. We aren't planning to release anyone's data to any 3rd Party.
It's only used to help us understand what someone actually cares about. That's it.
But do people know you are using it?
Informed consent is incredibly important to me. Whether itβs for vaccines or data usage, transparency and consent are requirements in my view.
