There's a pretty cool documentary on youtube about a man who researched the Christmas star, and also the astronomical conditions at the time of the crucifixion. Using software that allows determining what stars and planets could be seen at any time in history, he determined some pretty amazing "coincidences".

I've always thought it was amazing enough that the moon is just the right size, distance from Earth, and mass, to cause the orbit it has and create total eclipses, and then to see this analysis produces more amazement.
