This is exactly why they went after Trump with everything they could muster. He was an outsider who barged his way into their club. They had no dirt on him. They couldn't manipulate him, and he threatened to expose them all.

Worse. He was an insider who broke away from the inner circle. He did the one thing you're not supposed to do and that terrified them.

I believe that at one point an attempt was made on setting up trump for black mail and it failed. Epstein was told that he was no longer welcome on trump properties and suddenly the state of Florida was investigating Epstein. I really think that Trump is responsible for Epstein's original conviction.
