This is so different from Hank Gathers, Loyola Marymount All American basketball player who collapsed and died in 1990. He died of a heart anomaly as a result of a birth defect. Nobody thought it could happen to them.
Scott Van Pelt is fighting back tears as he reports. They say it's about Damar Hamlin. It is, but it's way bigger than that. Who will be the first to speak the truth?
This is history happening. God bless this man.
Edit: first report on his condition is CRITICAL
Hamlin got back up after the hit. If it was the hit that was the trigger, I don’t believe he would’ve been able to get up. My personal opinion, of course. It was after he got up he went into cardiac arrest.
Yes, but he went right back down, mere seconds after the hit. Had it been later in the game, I'd agree that the hit had next to nothing to do with it. Again, I am NOT saying the hit caused it. I am saying he was a ticking time bomb and that hit finished him off. Much like the Korean boxer dying after Ray Mancini hit him a bunch. Dude was going to die if he took any kind of hit, and did. Same with this poor young man. His heart couldn't handle the hit because it was falling apart already. I hope he recovers, but he will never be the same if he does. So sad.
