What is this thread all about?
Just a place for general discussion. A place to unload whats on your mind and talk about anything - personal, health, help needed, achievements, daily highs and daily lows, theories, predictions and what have you.
Does not need to be Q related.
Sorry, I'm not exhaustively researching this further.... If you wish to counter the site's claims (which are apparently invalid "because healthline"), you are going to need to come up with information other than your feelings and personal opinions.
Also - the last thing I want to do today is get into an argument about breast-feeding. I have grande plans of doing absolutely nothing today, because I just got done working for 17 days straight. Yes that’s right, that’s through Christmas and New Year’s. Dec 17 - Jan 3 - today is my day off, I’ll take the L. Have a great day PepeSee.
Enjoy your days off. It’s easy for us to forget some people don’t get off just because it’s a holiday.
Thanks I need it! I’m just so happy to be home. Sleep in my own bed, and be home with my mom.
You made an assertion, based on feelings. Poor form.
Edit: AND, you clearly just want to continue with your opinion, that it's creepy and therefore wrong. Pretty lame actually.
I’m countering it based on natural selection. All mammals stop breast-feeding once they have teeth, because the moms are smart enough to not allow the little rascals to chew on their teets.
Other than that personally, I don’t care, my daughter is 31 now. Lol she stopped breast-feeding 30 years ago ha ha, ha ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha. And thank God for that. I mean if you want to go by what health line and other people say, a person could breast-feed their entire life if they really chose to. Because the milk is healthy for you, right?
And I'm countering on when babies stop weaning, naturally. Which means God should have the final say, interestingly enough.
I stand corrected… This is what was happening back in biblical times.
In ancient Palestine, since 2.000BC, children were considered a blessing, and breastfeeding a religious obligation. Breastfeeding used to last long enough, almost up to two to three years and provided the infant with protection from various diseases, and above all from dysentery which was common and often fatal.
Dysentery is most often caused by shigella bacteria (shigellosis) or an amoeba. Dysentery is often spread through contaminated food or water.
I could see women doing this back in the day, because children would get their fluids through the breastmilk instead of drinking water. So this makes a lot of sense. However; we have relatively decent drinking water these days, so they need to breast-feed for an extended period of time would not be as prevalent, if that was the actual reasoning back in the day.
At this point in time in society, it’s a personal choice. Also, a lot of women cannot breast-feed because of their breasts will not lactate, and they cannot get the baby to latch on. Back in the day, they would have nurse maids for that. I’m not so sure nursemaids are a thing these days. But I don’t want to take the time to do the research on that. However, I do believe there is a group of people that pump their milk, in lieu of, a nurse maid; but then still you would be bottlefeeding.
I guess only a woman can decide really if they’re going to breast-feed or not.
