In the grand scheme of things, this post isn’t all that important.
I’m a nurse working with peds in a psych setting. The importance of this job and the severe abuse many of these kids have suffered, goes beyond what can be said in a short post.
We had a meeting this week, with the person running it- asked us to all declare our pronouns. By the time they came to me, I was so frustrated I just said, ditto, echoing the person who was before me. Luckily, nobody pushed us.
One of the girls is -I assuming transgendered or starting to …she’s going by the name of Alex and wears loose clothing. Her behavior/mannerisms are feminine and she seems like a really decent person.
Mental illness is so prevalent among these, the younger adult group -they really believe this stuff and not only expect us to be OK with it but to celebrate it.
My frustration is this— am I supposed to remember out of a group of 20 - 10.., specific gender requirements.
How the hell are we supposed to remember the specifics? Not to mention, is this even legal in the workplace?
Retired social worker here....now I drive a school bus. I call them all sweetie, kek. ALL of them except for the kindergartens, I call them my little tater tots. Lived a long time in the south, now up north (not for long).
I put girls on one side of the bus and boys on the other. Have had only one tell me they feel they are both genders, told her she would have to pick a side cause she can't sit in the isle, against the rules. She picked the girls side.
Blessings you figure it out...
Awesome thanks!
I would have declared my pronouns to be "fuck/you"....
Hmmm - my cats gotta eat! Lol
Its a job hunters paradise out there. Many good jobs urgently hiring, where you don't have to throw away your convictions for some dollars.
I make 75 an hour handyman work. I’m really good at it and I come with a trailer full of tools and keep really busy.
Can you do anything else? There is always a job for motivated skilled people.
I’m a 56 y/o RN with a partially completed masters in counseling! I’ve never done anything else..
Ok. That sucks that the entire medical industry is mostly evil.
Yeah, this week has been particularly challenging… these kids are lost and fully indoctrinated. For a time I thought they were almost oppositionally defiant. But I’m finding a lot of the kids are truly decent kids who have been indoctrinated. It’s really sad and they believe this indoctrination. Our country is going to suffer before it gets better, especially once our generation dies off, and they don’t know anything else.
Fellow nurse here, also BH specialty. Some folks really have gender issues as I saw this when I worked NICU. However, the vast majority of confused youth have been pushed in that direction by the mental health professionals that are supposed to be wise. I don't know what to say. It is crazy.
This is how desperate our hospital is! Three of the girls in attendance were previous patients here 8 to 12 years ago.
As long as they’ve matured and they’ve got an adult perspective & some insight, it should be OK.
Maybe they have an alternative objective agenda?
Just say, with polite but confident assertiveness, that you don't use pronouns therefore can't answer.
Last year I was working in care and an officer was sent round all the staff asking and recording their V statuses. I said I wasn't willing to disclose confidential medical information, but higher management were welcome to discuss this with me further if they wished. No-one ever followed it up.
