I also miss voat - probably depends on which voat forums you were on - there was a lot of stuff being uncovered in the GreatAwakening forum every day.
Quite a few former goats here, I know several who ended up over on POAL. There were several other forums that popped up (started by goats?), and might still be going, but weren't getting much traction last time I looked.
Yah, I joined POAL for a bit, and some of those other forums, but it soon became clear that the most viable next step was GAW. So, now I'm a winner. Go figure....
QRV - despite being Q endorsed - was far to rough for my taste. I hung out on the three largest: QRV, GreatAwakening, and one other (can't even recall the name variant now - was it The Great Awakening, versus just Great Awakening? ).
These forums were more hard core on the digging and research side of things, but then again, Q was dropping and we was digging.
After Dec 25 2020, when voat submerged, Q also submerged. For that reason amongst others, GAW is much more a news aggregate site and the research element is less pronounced than Reddit or Voat, but whatcha gonna do? We're in a completely different phase of the operation these days.

You're right, there were far too many shills on QRV. Wasn't worth a lot of time.
I likened voat to an incubator. It wasn't going to have mass appeal, but we sure learned a lot in a relatively short time.
