Yeah I've been programming a JavaScript version of the Q clock and it's a misconception that it runs out. The days just keep wrapping around.

Edit: as far as adding rings goes. That's actually just some slop in their code tbh. Alg can be programmed to not need that.

This should be the top answer. The clock started with only a few rings and has been extended many times, hell, there was the back and forth with Q as anons tried to determine what the :00 position should be.
