It is amazing twisty road central, and they're smooth as glass mostly.
Services here are weak. Medical care takes some advanced planning for everyday stuff. Dining out is not a strong point. Any travel through a big city will be jammed as they are all overwhelmed with new population. The tourists do come here a lot in the summer. It's mostly small town south, the people are super nice and it's pretty cheap.
I've only been here full time since Sept. Fall was perfect. Dry and warm. Winter has been a mix. I'd say we've been averaging a day or two per week of gray, cloudy, maybe a little rain and in the 40s. A couple of days a week are sunny and close to 60 and the rest somewhere in between. We did have some cold during that historic cold snap but it left after a couple of days. We chose to live at 2k feet so summers aren't as hot as elsewhere in TN. When we were visiting it was 80's and kind of humid but not terrible. It does cool off at night, unlike Texas. We do have bugs in the summer. Chiggers and gnats are a problem. Winter is hiking season.
This is all great info, thanks. 2k - yeah that sound like it should also help take the summer edge off, to whatever extent that can be done like you indicate....
Chiggers - oh God there's some memories there...scout camp in Oklahoma aaaaaargh
The roads though, I keep coming back to that. Looking at a map it's like whoah. How's the traffic/patrol level? (And are speed limits less insipidly slow than in CO, e.g. stretches of 30 on the P2P etc?)
We might have talked regarding this previously. TN is on my radar for sure, esp given it looks like twisty road central.
What imperfections/could-be-betters are you running into?

Those make sense for smaller-town areas for sure. Smooth as glass - that would be interesting as I've mainly been in OR, CA, and CO for this.
How's the weather mix? E.g. definitely more humid, more rain probably, but like % of time it's sunny vs cloudy etc?
