They had just started making a big deal about making boys play with dolls. At the same time, gays started coming out of the closet nationwide and the whole shit-show that we see now was born.

you had the weird left back then they just were ignored because what they claimed seemed so absurd. suggestion take a look at the play MAME. this was a play that was done in 1958 for comic relief a lot of leftist concepts popular today are shown.
