Our daughter told us to watch it and said, but wait - don't watch a trailer or preview - go in completely unspoiled.

But, if it involves CORDYCEPS FUNGUS that takes over the body and springs out a person like those ant videos I may have to scream!

That's what the games were. Hadn't played them myself, but that's what I know about them. That and the Ellie girl is for some reason immune to the fungus. Beyond that I don't really know what the show can provide that a decade of the Walking Dead didn't.
