There is mounting evidence that blood letting is actually useful. There is a reason billionaires are paying to be injected with blood from young people. Old rats injected with young blood healed quicker and showed benefits in basically all of the standard blood markers like cholesterol.
They are currently testing to see if removing blood periodically mimics the benefits by forcing the endocrine system to create replacement cells, refreshing the blood.
If I had the 8k dollar a treatment, I would absolutely go get blood transfusions from 18 year olds.
Blood letting is like the absolute opposite of infusions.
Of course. But it’s the idea of forcing creating of new blood cells that is the question.
Giving blood on purpose on schedule is already a common practice in bodybuilding and sports in which steroids and EPO are used. Steroids and EPO raise hematocrit. Once it gets above 50 the risk of excess clotting increases. Basically the blood becomes sludge. This is one of the risk factors that kills bodybuilders and wrestlers due to cardiac failure in their 40s. Years of steroids abuse without monitoring hematocrit. During the lance Armstrong years many of the bikers had so much EPO abuse and high hematocrit that they would go out for rides at midnight to keep the blood pumping and prevent dying in their sleep.
No coincidence that the clot shot is killing people in their sleep. The blood congeals and bam dead.
Why wouldn’t it be beneficial to artificially drive up the creation of new red blood cells? Seems likely there would be some benefit on a long enough timeline. The infusion of young blood giving positive health results leads me to think there is possibly a benefit to doing with one’s own body.
