As if my fellow Brothers weren't screwed over enough when they got out, here's this:

What they don't realize is that sometimes it takes a while for symptoms to manifest themselves. I've been out for 37 years and there are still some things going on, but going to the VA is a chore. I had to take my older brother there before he died, as he served in Vietnam and it really fucked him up. Guys sitting around in chairs, with thousand-yard stares, waiting to see some petty bureaucrat to get their claim fulfilled. Whatever. I would have greater success teaching my little Chihuahuas calculus than having to explain this to people.
I used to work at a bar and a LOT of my customers were vets. I would take some of them to the VA. THAT place is a disgrace!! I miss those guys!! Biggest heart!! They have been deeply hurt in so many ways!!
Speaking of, What are some good Charities that actually HELP?
6.???
If I find or hear of any more I'll let you know 😉
It’s a disgrace how American treats her veterans.
Thanks for posting this. “Going to the VA is a chore” is an understatement. But here’s the other thing, at least with the USMC. The culture of drinking to excess is so strong early on. It masks a lot of pain and problems and makes it so you don’t have the insight into your problems or the will to look into it. And they love giving you meds like antidepressants, SSRIs and anti anxiety meds to cover up the problems even more. It takes so much time and fortitude to get off everything and really deal with the psych issues, never mind the physical ones. To sit and wonder if your problems are related to actual physical trauma or exposure to toxic substances, not just PTSD.. it takes a lot of time to sort it out. Then you go to the VA and they have pushed the diversity thing so hard, but the workers are flat out incompetent, have attitudes and you just want to say eff it. It smells bad. They still make you wear a mask, at least in FL. It’s more pleasant to go to the DMV.
My dad was stationed at Camp LeJeune in the 80’s and he’s just now going they some kidney problems and had long retired from service but now he’s decided to take some action hopefully to get some affordable medical care since his private insurance deductibles are high, and maybe disability benefits. I’m like..... “you should totally do that” while thinking to myself he’s going down into a new pit of hell he never thought possible. But we’ll see. I try to give him positive support.
Are aware of the water contamination at Camp LeJuene? There’s a class action lawsuit. The only person winning in class action is the lawyer and the person filing suite. I’m not a doctor or healer! Herbal medicine has been helpful with my health issues. If you are interested study herbs that treat kidney problems. Blessings to him and you.

My dad was told not to expect anything much from a settlement so he isn’t going to pursue that but he is eligible for VA medical care and possibly disability benefits. But yeah, he realizes he’d probably only get about 5 bucks from a settlement. It’s BS.
Yeah those class action suits aren’t for the victims.
This isn't the fault of the court, it's about the crap legislation. Now is the time to push the Freedom Caucus to make the right changes for our vets.
If they can send stupid money to Ukraine and cover all kinds of expense for illegals, they can throw money at our vets and also free them from the VA once and for all.
VA is married to big Pharma and over over over medicates everyone. Ask yourself why this Agency - after DOD is the largest - would want to do that. More money won't free them from VA- just medicate them more and keep them dependent upon it.
Oh my gosh. One last time: separate initiatives. First, they deserve more pay and benefits than illegal aliens. Second, free them completely from the VA. Abolish the VA, whatever it takes, but PUT IT IN LEGISLATION, not EOs that can be easily overridden. Capice?
Sorry pede, I wasn't clear. The vets need more money; they've earned it. AND they need to be freed again from the VA completely. Two separate things.
I know vets who need medical care and are currently screwed by the system. They had some freedom by Trump's EO that allowed them to see any docs they wanted, but this needs to be legislated to be permanent, because Lieden changed it back with another EO.
Thus, now is the time to push permanent changes to the veteran care system via legislation.
Bingo!
