Hydrogen is a fuel. Water is the result of hydrogen combustion, not a source of energy. You might look that up.
But if you are thinking of using fuel cells (hydrogen-air electrochemical reaction), then it could make sense. You still have similar problems arriving at lightweight, efficient fuel cells. And creation of a hydrogen production and distribution infrastructure. In the end, hydrocarbon fuels and internal combustion engines are still the most practical and economic approach.
