Since when do they put gas stations close enough to train tracks that a derailment would hit the gas station? I am 58 years old. I have travelled all over this country. I have seen hundreds of rail crossings. I have never seen a gas station within range of a possible derailment.

There are 4 across the street from tracks in my home town alone. I have seen them everywhere
I was just quoting from the news story. The locals are wondering what the chinese balloon overhead had to do with it.
Right more likely the train hit a gas tanker over the tracks than a gas station itself.
But you never know.
No a car hit the train.
