Ooooh, throwing each other under busses now? The "commander in chief" was overruled by a general officer?
Nah. This is the finger-pointing stage when the perps know they've been caught and are trying to shift blame away from themselves.
They can't escape the optics of this. 100% horrendous and the latest pathetic example of the absolute lack of backbone and leadership needed to hold the highest office.
Overruled?? The chairman of the Joint Chiefs is the top military advisor to the President. He is not in the chain of command and he can advise but in no way overrule the Commander in Chief, or direct the military forces to do or to not do anything, regarding the balloon or anything else.
"Goldwater–Nichols [Act 1986] streamlined the military chain of command, which now runs from the president through the secretary of defense directly to combatant commanders (CCDRs, all four-star generals or admirals), bypassing the service chiefs."
"According to the act, the chairman may not exercise military command over the Joint Chiefs of Staff or any of the armed forces."
Section 3 of the 25th Amendment covers what happens when the President decides to temporarily give up power. This might happen if the President is ill or undergoing a medical procedure where he'll be incapacitated and temporarily unable to perform his duties as president.
The President must declare this decision in writing to the President pro tempore of the Senate (the second-highest-ranking official in the Senate) and the Speaker of the House of Representatives (the leader of the House of Reps).
When this happens, the** Vice President takes over the duties of the president and the president (although he remains in office) has no authority. **To regain his authority, the president must put into writing that he is again fit to act as president.

So who's really running the show? Not the Bidan puppet, that's for sure.
PENCE??
