"US Abrams tanks and German Leopard tanks are too heavy for Ukranian bridges.
That severely limits their freedom of movement, which is NOT what you want in a fight.
The Abrams M1A1 and the Leopard 2A7+ both weigh more than 67 tons. Ukranian bridges are made for 44 tons."

KNOWN SINCE NOV 2021: BRIDGES IN UKRAINE TO WEAK FOR NATO TANKS!
"But U.S. and NATO tanks weigh 60 tons or more. That’s a problem. “While Western European infrastructure was often reinforced during the Cold War to handle the weight of 60-plus-ton NATO tanks, Eastern Europe couldn’t afford to build as robustly and, in any case, only had to accommodate much lighter Soviet tanks, like the 45-ton T-72,” Sydney Freedberg, Jr. explained at Breaking Defense.
“Poland, in particular, has many rivers and few reinforced bridges,” Freedberg added. “It has run afoul of E.U. regulators for not being able to accommodate heavy vehicles.”
“What does this mean militarily? At more than 60 tons, the M-1 Abrams main battle tank and most of its NATO kindred – the British Challenger 2, the German Leopard II, even the French Leclerc — are already unsafe for many bridges where the alliance most urgently needs them.” ..."
What a shameful waste.
It's not a waste. Once the tanks are in Ukraine they will sit in a marshalling yard. After a few months the American people will have forgotten about the tanks and then they will be shipped off to Iran or some shady country in Africa. We will never hear about what became of the tanks, but you can rest assured that they will be used to fight God fearing people who do not trust their government.
we could bet that it will be "wasted" into other countries and different wars ;-)
... and it is the door opener for demanding other (more) weapon systems!
The bridges cant support 1 of these tanks. How would they get a battalion over?
The Sherman and T-34 were much maligned. The German tanks of WW2 were obviously superior by orders of magnitude in a 1v1 fight on open ground. But the Sherman and T-34 were light and they were uncomplicated. They could be built in the thousands where the Tigers and Panther II's could only be built in the dozens. They were light and manueverable, able to traverse the muddy roads and farm trails, the two tracks through the woods.
It is with criminal and corrupt intent that our MIC ignored those lessons in favor of super expensive toys that breakdown often and where maintenance is a nightmare with no solution. They did so purely through greed.
Farcical.
o.k. that is a term I don't get :-)
Please translate, dear fren.
(from farce?)
Yes. Farcical: Of or relating to farce. Resembling a farce; ludicrous. Ridiculously clumsy; absurd.
Thank you for helping me broadening my vocabulary, fren.
You are welcome. :)
