I know people who can’t afford a car at the moment and are walking miles to work while on disability. And likely facing very expensive surgery on top of everything.
Being able to afford a vacation at all is quite the blessing right now.
I do pet sitting on the side so I can afford to go there. Also, it’s not a vacation. I’m housesitting for my family. While they’re gone I’ll be taken care of 10 cats and a multi million dollar property. It’s a big responsibility,
Yes, it’s a blessing, and I can’t wait to get there. However, I’ll be working, and if I didn’t have family there, I would be able to go. If it wasn’t for my pet sitting gig, I wouldn’t be able to afford to do anything either.
The fact of the matter is this. $849 to fly to Kauai, is ridiculous. Put the blame where it should lay, not on me, but on Biden.
Apologies. I didn’t know your story, nor the circumstances. Got a lesson on text conversations over the internet today.
I am very glad you are able to go, and have the chance to get away to a sunny place with lots of furry friends. I’m not sure I’d be able to wrangle ten cats in a large estate.
I have been having multiple conversations recently with people on both sides of the political aisle complaining how they “can’t take vacations like they used to,” even though they’re still going to Florida and Vegas and other places, while our local food banks have huge influxes of new families and some people I know, like I posted above, can’t work more than eight hours or they lose benefits for themselves and their family. Despite being in pain and having no car to get to work, on top of other hardships, they still go, to keep their family off the street.
No problem, friend. I totally understand. I to deal with the fact that I’m only allowed to earn a specific amount of money, or I lose my benefits. It’s a crazy world we live in. I’m grateful that my boss at the company that I work for, it’s really cool, and she tries to pay me in cash when she can. I live with my 82-year-old mother. She’s not Social Security. So we picture together to make it work. But with the price of food rising, and it costing about $80 to fill my car with gas. It’s just so overwhelming.
However; I am so grateful that I do get to go to Kauai. Yes, it’s work, but I do get to swim in the ocean five days out of the week. And that’s just something I love to do. Is to swim. So that’s something I look forward to, and when I get back home, I am really strong. Swimming really helps get you into shape.
I’ll be praying for your friends, and hoping that their finances will get better so they can try to enjoy a few specialties in life.
Regarding food banks, etc.… I tend to have a giving heart, and when I see homeless people I bring them food, water, and then five bucks for something else they might need. There’s also an organization that my family has helped fund over the years, it started in Perry’s California. It’s called UTurn For Christ. They have one on Kauai as well. It’s a place where men go to find Jesus, get off drugs, or alcohol, or whatever other addictive or problematic behavior that they have. They go through a program, and come out the other end better men. We do what we can to support that as well.
God bless you my friend! I hope that you have a great night. I have to get some rest tonight, I have Bible study in the morning with my friends from church.
How true, I know some people will "always" have trouble or health issues, but in general it shouldn't be the way it is today. At least not after the 4 years of Trump's administration and the 8 years (Obama) before that was horrendous.
Perhaps a little perspective?

That is definitely different.

So, I apologize for projecting that onto you.
