Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an intergral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on it's evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.

In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Um... what state do you live in? If you are close to me then maybe I could ask them to help me with one last tree in our yard.
Just kidding, lol.
After the last hurricanes we had hit us, we took down two (one large & one med sized) in our front yard since the big was leaning a little. Not cheap, but worth it. But we have one more big tree in the corner of our backyard that will cost us well over a thousand to take down. We should call the guy we know that took our other trees down and see how much it will be now, before the leaves grow back. We want to plant some fruit trees on that side of the yard, and if we are going to take it down then now's the time if it's not too expensive.
Neighbor on one side of us has a big tree in front of his house, almost on the line of our property. Well, that tree had caused damage to our house (gutters had to be replaced, not cheap) because huge limbs broke off and hit our house during those hurricanes we had. That was before neighbor bought the house, but he knew about the incident when he bought the house. He told my husband he would cut it down (he's been living there for about a year now). When we had ours taken down, we asked him if he wanted the crew to cut his down. He said no he would take it down himself. Do you think he's taken it down or maintained it... nope! Not only that but he decided it was a good idea to add two more freaking trees to his front yard. Idiot! He doesn't even like mowing his yard. We are in the freaking south, you have to mow your yard like twice a week in the summer. The front of his home is a disaster, stuff everywhere in his driveway and the blinds are all messed up and can see a bit inside from the road and it looks like the rooms are piled with stuff, and the front steps are mostly black from mold, not to mention the backyard.
And the neighbor on the other side of us, is a complete lazy idiot, lord I'm sorry but I just can't even tolerate him. His oldest son isn't too bad, but the daughter will end up in jail for murder one day, mark my words. His new wife sounds like a child, and their toddler is like a bubble baby, never sees the light of day except while he's standing in his window staring out at us. He has damaged his blinds because he use to stand on the windowsill behind his blinds. So, parents just pulled the blinds all the way up and left them there, no curtains or blinds to cover his window. The neighbor never has cut his lawn, he has made his older kids do yard work since they were in elementary school, they are now in middle & high school.
Good gracious why did we end up with two lazy individuals on either side of us?
If your neighbors don't tell you their favorite dessert, then just make them something you think they may like, something that pretty much everyone likes, like cookies, pastries or even an apple pie. Yum, making myself hungry over here, lol.
I really loved your story. Very detailed about your idiot neighbors. Lol.
We’re thinking about planting a fruit tree as well. Fun fact; did you know that you can buy a citrus tree that has three different fruits on it? Well, you can, and we’re going to get one that has lemons, limes, and oranges. It’s just the two of us, me and my mom, so we don’t need that much fruit. Whatever’s left over we can share with the great neighbors.
Valentine’s Day is coming up, so I think I’m going to make some heart shaped press, cookies, and another heart shaped cookie that I make that has strawberry jam in the middle of it. And then you just sprinkle it with powdered sugar.
I could go on and on about these two idiots on either side of us, but it would take me all day, lol.
Those cookies sound really good! I think that's a good idea with valentine's day coming up, then later if you find what their favorite dessert is you can make it for them.
