What was actually on or in the train cars? First reporting on this was stating chlorine gas in roughly 100 train cars. This posts headline is saying vynil chloride. Do you know what it actually is?

So vynil chloride monomer looks like. Wasnt much info on this when first saw the articles. This compound if released how it's been said, is still very serious but significantly different than chlorine gas which was what was being pushed at first.
They burned off the vinyl chloride to dispose of it. Vinyl chloride is bad enough that the combustion products (phosgene and hydrogen chloride), bad as they are, are less bad. But they are heavier than air, so animals that are close to the ground (pets, foxes, chickens) are going to breathe it after it has become harmless to humans. If anyone is checking concentration levels, they should be doing it AT ground level.
