Wait. You thought getting rid of money itself was a GOOD thing?
I get ditching fiat and returning to gold and silver--or latinum, as the case may be. But the very concept of currency? That never sat well with me. I always thought that was Gene Roddenberry not thinking things through, especially when he attempted to make capitalists (the Ferengi) villains in the awful first season of TNG. Humanism ignores human nature.
Thankfully, the Ferengi became so much better in DS9. They were so much fun, and had their share of awesome moments, too.
And before you say what I think you're going to say, I said I had a soft spot for the series. I didn't say I liked everything about it. Roddenberry had lost his mind by TNG thanks largely to all the drugs he'd done, and the show became significantly better once he was removed from power.

Wait a minute. Have you ever seen Fetterman and a Ferengi in the same place?
I doubt Fetterman is a capitalist.
But he definitely abides by Rule of Acquisition #111:
"Treat people in your debt like family...exploit them."
Ayyyyy lmao!
