Oh, you would have trusted these people if they sat on their ass and waited for the vinyl chloride tanks to explode, create a huge vapor cloud, settling close to earth and permeating the surroundings for maybe a mile or more around? Do you ever think your way through the alternative?
Weapons are instruments of intentional harm. (I used to build them, so I know.) Are you trying to say that the fire in the journal box was intentional and timed? Are you trying to say that the derailment was intentional and timed? Are you trying to say that the impending failure of the vinyl chloride tanks was intentional and timed? Wow. You must be an expert at making houses of cards.
You don't have to "trust" these people. Maybe they made a mistake, only to be known in retrospect. But lack of trust does not prove deliberate malice, and this is where you have to distinguish between what goes on in your head from what goes on in reality.
We've been hit by a chemical weapon and most people don't even know it happened.
Not a weapon, a chemical. It was once used as a weapon. There is plenty of industrial use of chlorine. Are you going to call that a weapon?
Do you trust the people who decided to "burn it off" and cause widespread contamination of air and water? I don't. Hence my use of the word weapon.

Okay, I'll say "possible weapon" or "potential weapon" from now on. I would hate to be lectured at again for being hyperbolic on the internet.
