So you want railways that don't go through rural or suburban/urban areas?
I'm interested in what rail line you can find that follows those limitations.
Or one that could be made. For destinations all over the country.
Maybe you could work one out?
Been thinking about this, and short of applying eminent domain I really don't know how you're going to accomplish making rail lines all around the country that avoids farmland and people. So, land grab, anyone?
Well, if that so-called conspiracy theorist dude (who years ago "committed suicide" in pretty short order after making the claim) was telling the truth? The US is already riddled with tunnels.
Well, maybe it would be a good idea to look into the logistics of it?
To look at some numbers and then form opinions based on facts?
Cause I look at the drivers here around me, and sure as shit don't want them to be driving anywhere near a tanker truck full.of hazardous materials especially if I'm behind them. We already have too many, imo.
It's not part of your job to look for facts on a matter before you start forming opinions on it? I don't really think of it as a job. Just a good habit, I suppose?
I'm not saying it's beyond anyone's control. Just trying to be objective about it, and point out reasons why things are done the way they are.
If people are serious about changing things (and I get the impression that many would rather sit around complaining about things and feeling like victims than work to change them) then we need to a) know what it is we're talking about b) deal in facts and not just feelings c) discuss how doing things differently will cost/affect us d) not expect "them" to fix anything (i.e. "why do they do this", "why don't they do that," etc....)
So I guess that's why I get downvoted as much as I do. People don't really want to change anything. They just want company to commiserate with them while complaining about how things are.

Underground has always been an option.
I don't disagree.

Not sure who you're talking about and what tunnels have to do with things?
