People need to save hard copies of verifiable data in case it gets either deleted or modified. Storage is cheap these days. A 1 TB hard drive is like $50 or so depending on manufacturer and speed. Even thumb drives are cheap.

The issue is that it would require a minority report type intuition to know exactly what to save before an incident happens.

Unless you could save the entirety of the Internet.
