Childcare is incredibly important. My wife passed during childbirth and I was left to raise twin girls on my own 2,000 miles away from any family. My wife's family abandoned us because I baptized the girls and they always hated religion, and I was an only child to elderly parents who had passed on by that point.
If I wasn't able to hire childcare locally, I wouldn't have been able to work and wouldn't have been able to afford a home.
Handshake with an exceptional story of an orphaned widower. I think you tried too hard with this story. If you had no parents or siblings, then who were you 2000 miles from?
and the pandering to us religious people by mentioning the anti-religion in-laws. Like we’re supposed to believe that the in-laws would fault the girls for being baptized, as if they thought that newborn babies made that decision for themselves kek
You know it's kind of amazing how mankind was able to manage through real suffering: wars, famine, devastation, etc etc, for thousands of years, without hiring 'childcare'.
Even if your story is true, there is always a way. Move back with family for the duration of the child's early formative years, scale back, change lifestyles, you name it.
You just CHOSE to place important on $ instead of children. No judgment, but it's important to 1. recognize what this is and 2. take responsibility.

To counter your pro-daycare anecdote, here’s Reese Bowman‘s anecdote
And note the carefully chosen handle "John Titor Lives" - as if we anons believe that C_A story!

Jesus this is tragic. There is a need for childcare, perhaps on some level. But not to the extend the government wishes it to be you must admit.
It is important. We should be focusing on quality.
