The Vulcan bomber had crates of chaff to confuse radar. The crates were basically full of strips of tin foil. The crew would empty the crates out the bomb bay doors.
This would gradually create a huge blob on the radar screen several miles wide. I saw it happen once, the radar screen basically became useless and you couldn't tell where the bomber was.
