Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Here's some Australiana for all you frens out there who are not Anzacs (kiwis or aussies):
All aussies of my generation will know this song. Folk song from back before machine shears were used to cut the wool from sheep. FYI, the wool industry was essentially the core industry on which the australian nation was built. We had lots and lots of sheep, and australian wool was second to none quality wise - best in the world for a long time.

I wonder if any of our murican pedes recognize the melody?
I don't recognize the melody, but is it Waltzing Matilda? I notice they use that album cover in the "video".
Waltzing Matilda was my jam growing up. I had a pretty blessed childhood in regards to musical variety. 😃
Thanks for the choon.
Bro,
I found out that the tune/melody was pilfered from an American song from the mid 1800s....
Check this out. It's totally weird.

Talking about wool ,you would have loved the wool we were handling a couple of weekends ago FractilizingIron. The wool classer said it was the best he's seen in a very long time. 21 micron ,needed barely any skirting and only the very tips of it were discoloured. It was so soft. I'd love a jumper out of it .
Do you spin, Mel?
No I don't. I just help friends out on weekends and days off in the sheds if they're short a roustabout.
I was thinking about 'Click go the Shears' after helping friends in a shearing shed last weekend and started humming it to myself on the way home.
