Actual discernment in action. Not giving in to peer pressure, and not caving to confirmation bias outright, as well optimism bias and self-serving, availability, and anchoring, being other types of biases you managed to discern yourself free of. At least that's the goal of critical thinking. The effort is what is important. Sustained until habitual. Forgive the tangent, but it sticks out like a sore thumb when I see because it's so rare these days, as we all know. And most rightly identify it as a major problem to be overcome. But that's it usually. When it comes to actual practice most people won't be separated from the dainty little narrative that they already have going. Again, sorry for the tangent when I should have left it at just saying, "Good on you, and I agree with your reasoning. Well done".
The part Elon is playing is entirely unknowable from data available to the public. Guesswork is required. Most people here see both the potential for Elon being either an ally or a threat. Nobody here trusts him unequivocally.
Mischaracterizing people who are skeptical but optimistic about Elon as lacking "critical thinking", having caved to "confirmation bias" or having no discernment is complete bullshit.
There are dozens, if not hundreds of data points that have circulated on GAW since Elon tossed his hat in the ring that suggest he's a force for good.
Right on. As long as nobody is lionizing him. You say nobody here trusts him unequivocally. Good. I hope that's true. To my ears it sounds sometimes from some anons that they are just a hair short of unequivocal trust. We just feel differently about him is all.
Very little in that post was discernment. Contrarianism is not discernment. True discernment brings facts from both sides and getting to the bottom of the truth.
Things like "HE'S RECEIVED GOVERNMENT MONEY!" (who hasn't? He's contributed more too.) and pulling his bad choice in women from a hat and saying he's a Satanist because of it is just smooth brain.
Also, sometimes people discern a different way than you; it doesn't make their beliefs more or less relevant than yours.
Elon is doing good right now. Being needlessly contrarian and attacking him at every opportunity is simply destructive and aligns with the left on something.
Right now he's been tearing down the narratives and exposing larger deaths of people than we ever could reach to a lot of things we've been saying here for years now. Just take the wins, until he actually turns against us -- which he very well may, who knows?
Right now he aligns with us. Constant purity tests are gay and are a method to reduce the efficacy of our messaging.
It just strikes me as hypocritical that people will rush to his defense over and over, rationalizing every red flag that he waves and brushing aside every thing unsavory about him....and then condemn others to hell for being cannibalistic baby rapists and say they should be executed on site for nothing more than being Democrats in some gov.office and wearing triangular shaped earrings.
I honestly don't see how this "frens" post has woken up normies or even made them aware of anything at all. Normies don't know or care about "frens" and will just think it's a typo of "friends". All it is is pandering. And pandering is obnoxious to me. I don't get all aflutter in my nether regions just because someone rich and famous acknowledges me in a way that still keeps me secret from the general population.
And I don't see anything that he's done that is bringing normies to the fold. He's actively pushing normies away with his actions and behavior, if you haven't been paying attention to the MSM and what normies have been saying about him.
He's a troll. He's always been a troll. He will always be a troll. And I feel like he's trolling us right now.
I agree on contrarianism not being discernment. Which is something I see an absolute TON of here at GAW. But I don't think he was being contrary in place of being thoughtful. But what I do see a ton of is people stumbling on those hurdles that he was at least trying to avoid. I believe most of the work done in the GA is from just the trying. If people are aware of the fallacies and at least trying to avoid traps on their way to the truth, especially when it would be easier to let biases dictate out "truth".
Obviously it would be massively hypocritical of us here to do that. So I champion any warriors that go forth with unpopular but warranted revelations. I don't care for false booms or participation trophies. Same is true for you I presume.

But you're also saying here that because I discern his actions differently than you, that it makes me a "smooth brain".
So which is it?

I like that: Smooth brain. Gonna steal that.
