A British Airways pilot reportedly collapsed just before his scheduled commercial flight from Cairo, Egypt to London’s Heathrow Airport.
According to reports, the veteran pilot suffered a heart attack in the crew’s hotel.
Although colleagues performed CPR on the pilot, he tragically passed away.
The incident has allegedly shaken British Airways to the core
The pilot managed to get from his room to the foyer, where colleagues performed CPR on him.
A source told The Sun: “It has rocked BA. It doesn’t bear imagining if he had suffered a heart attack at 30,000ft.”
Airline bosses delayed the scheduled flight the captain was set to fly back to Heathrow airport last week.
Passengers were oblivious to the reason behind their wait.
The body of the pilot, who had suffered from ill health in recent months, was brought back to the UK in a Boeing 787.
The wide-body Dreamliner was flown to Egypt especially for the grim task because there was no room for the coffin in the hold of the Airbus A321 jet he had been scheduled to fly.
Dr. William Makis MD wrote in Covid Intel:
This is now the second such major incident of a pilot collapsing with a heart attack this month.
One can imagine what might have happened if the British Airways pilot had the heart attack during his flight from Egypt to London.
How many close calls is it going to take for the elephant in the room (pilots suffering COVID-19 vaccine cardiac injuries) to finally be addressed?
I fear a major airline crash is now only a matter of time.
They do know that there are co-pilots, right? He's not sitting in that cockpit all by himself.
I imagine that, as sad as his death is, the worst thing that would have happened to those on that flight would be maybe having to reroute to get him to a hospital ASAP and missing their connecting flights or getting somewhere later than expected.
Not quite the scenario they're trying to scare up.
But what if the co-pilot ate the fish?
Well, then they're proper fucked.
I am assuming you are being sarcastic because of those 70's and 80's airplane movies?
My understanding from talking to flight attendents, they do not feed the pilots the same food.
For that very real possibility.
How many airlines are pushing for there only being one pilot?
Dude, I was not aware of airlines trying to do this. I went and did a quick search when you brought it up.
That's why I love this place. I learn something new each day.
And yes, the above scenario is a huge reason why they should never get their way on that.
Scary thought. I wouod not feel comfortable on a plane without 2 pilots.
Curious. I know some planes are cat 3 capable, which is auto land system.
We had a blizzard couple of years ago in dallas and less than 10' visibility. I checked flight radar and there were planes diverting, some circling and yet, some landing.
Asked a pilot about those landing and he said cat 3.
My question maybe a pilot can answer.
If both pilots die and plane is cat 3, can air traffic control enable that system or does a pilot in the plane have to?
I would think they would need someone inside the plane.
But something as advanced as the system you're talking about, it seems that traffic control could walk someone (say, a flight attendant or passenger) through the steps.
There are/were some videos on YouTube way back when, that shows some people being talked through landing little Cessna type planes that have lost power or had engine fires, and the pilots (typically people who haven't had their pilots licenses long and don't know what to do) were talked through landing safely by traffic control.
Those TC people are some cool cats. Super calm, knew exactly how to calm down the pilots, made the steps to land safely so easy my dumb ass probably could have been talked through landing safely.
Great reply. Thanks.
