Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Mildly related.
First of all, I'm not really sure what keto exactly is, but I get the gist. I appreciate the thread, and to me a good recipe is a good recipe. Period. 👍
But I work with a food bank, and the other week we got in a load of unsold KETO HOT DOG BUNS. 16 carbs a piece. Pretty sure that's maybe 2 carbs fewer than regular buns. I found this pretty hilarious.
Carry on. 🙏😁
Dr Berg is someone who inspired me to try and continue keto/IF. Awesome videos. I’m not qualified to talk about vitamins very much. I’ve only been advised to take D3 because it can help the body absorb calcium and overall improve your joint health and immune system. Most people are deficient. My chiro said I can take a lot more than what’s recommended on the bottle.
But the problem I have with taking supplements is that unless they’re of good quality (and who knows) and you take them just right (like avoiding taking them with certain meds e.g. don’t take D3 with statins because it impacts absorption) they don’t do anything. It seems to me the vitamin industry is yet another scam, but that is just my opinion. I still take some like zinc and whatnot but try to do a lot of research and avoid all the gummies because carbs.
If you do a search for a chart with vitamin rich foods, many will pop up. I think it makes sense that you can get what you need naturally from food, instead of with a pill. But that’s just my non medical opinion.
I'm not a faithful Keto-er, but definitely lean that way. I tried a program with a app and I can't stick with tracking like that and I was hard to eat as much fat as they recommend.
So I eat when I'm hungry, with the hope of getting down to one meal a day. I avoid all seed oils, my "snacks" are usually keto friendly. But I still eat potatoes & homemade bread and rice sometimes.
I order my vitamins from either Full Script or Mellacua websites. Both are supposedly 'clean' and honest about what is in them.
I'm game. I know I signed up late, but I'm a fan, and I think this is going to be a great thread.
Sure. I thought we were having a Kato thread?????
