If it wasn't for early voting, I wouldn't be able to vote. I work 12.3 hour days, so I go in before voting opens and get off after voting closes. Please don't disenfranchise me.
Your situation should be covered under absentee voting or you should be able to request that day off or reduced schedule to vote. The polls should be open for 24 hours as well.
I'm in law enforcement. One does not simply request the day off. And there's no such thing as a reduced schedule.
You know nothing about me or my work. I've been here since the beginning.
How do you cast your early vote? In person? Would you vote if you got paid time off to do it? What if there was a federal holiday called "Election Day"?
I work federal holidays. #coplife.
I cast my early vote in person.
We need an election holiday with voting all day from 6 am to 10 pm to accommodate those who work as first responders who can’t take the day off.
As a poll worker it would be hell to work that long but I would do it so every person could vote who wanted to do so.
On Election Day we poll workers are not allowed to leave the polls at all. So we work the entire day. But during early voting here in NC there are two shifts of poll workers to work.
I work holidays. Making a holiday changes nothing for me.
Edit: but extending voting hours would.
