There are fewer than 10000 residents in Sandpoint. The Idaho panhandle is overwhelmingly conservative. Its not shutting down for the reasons they assert
Maybe it's illegals with no insurance? idk. Are abortions a big part of a hospital that delivers babies? I thought most was in planned parenthood (more like planned murderhood). I'm really ignorant about this though. Maybe the hospitals make a lot from abortion? Or maybe a woke administration is trying to say that. Not sure.
These hospitals that are changing their labor and delivery are doing it for financial reasons. There are numerous hospitals that are having a decline in birthrates. Example there is a hospital in Montana where there OB department was closed 3 months out of the year last year. I can't say this is the case at this particular hospital. But it may be a possibility. I did not look into whether this hospital was 25 bed critical access. My best guess it is. That being the case very few that go for this designation have an active OB department.
The foundation that runs the hospital gets donations from Alaska Airlines, who reimburses employees travel expenses when they get out of state abortions.
OB takes a lot of standby time and staffing that is expensive if there isn't a reliable number of clients, as in a small hospital. This hospital only serves 9000 people--how many babies could they be delivering? Also malpractice insurance used to be a killer expense that discouraged doctors--maybe it still is. And if OB doctors were recommending vaccination and causing infertility and perinatal mortality, that would tend to drive them out of business too, either from malpractice suits or killing their customers..
Spare parts revenue stream stopped. Biz plan morphing.
