“God’s” word is the truth, but nowhere “that I know of” in the Bible does it say that the Bible will never be altered to the satisfaction of man because it is protected by God’s authority.
On the other hand, we are warned of false profits (Mathew 7:17).
Think about Peter, he challenges us to turn our attention to the Scriptures, even while warning that some will seek to turn us from the truths of the Scriptures by perverting the teaching of Scripture. In this context we are talking about someone misinterpreting what is written knowingly or unknowingly. So for me it is far from a stretch to consider the possibility that what we have as the Gospel has be misinterpreted, knowingly or unknowingly, then rewritten in a form that is out of alignment with God’s true word. It is also very possible “in my mind” that the Catholic Church/Vatican has many documents that many Protestants scholars would whole heartedly agree should be included in the Protestant bibles, so omission is as possible problem too.
By no means am I advocating picking and choosing what one is suppose to believe or accept that is currently written in the Bible, because I do not believe that. As of now what we have is what I must go by, but I have a feeling the there is much more to know about God’s interaction with man than is currently being allowed.
I can understand your sentiment. I am naturally suspicious myself. However, we have more than mere worldly and fleshly assurances in the Holy Spirit. Just as He inspired and guided the hearts of men to write God’s word He guides and protects our hearts from pollution. We truly have a metaphysical hand guiding and protecting us. We will eventually see everything once Jesus takes us home but until then the Holy Spirit won’t fail us. The full armor of God is just what it claims to be. Protection through our fleshly battles. Keep the faith brother!
Lol,, I’m a non-denominational hands up worshipping kinda guy, heck,, my wife is even on the worship team😄
Also am very much a Holy Spirit type believer and will lay down some hands when the opportunity arises. So you and I are probably on the same page with a whole lot!
That said,,, all I have to go by is God’s word and we’ve been warned about false profits and ppl twisting the Gospel/Scriptures away from what God intended. Something that should be considered is when the verses that were written to warn us they didn’t have a printing press and hardly anyone could write or read, so the authors of those passages weren’t fathoming the idea that one day everyone would own books and be able to freely read and write. Had that been the case at that time it seems very likely that they would have also warned about ppl changing God’s word or omitting things that should be in the Bible.
*Yes, I have faith.
