Pandemic? That was 3 years ago. Most pizza places that had delivery or curbside pick-up did well during the height of the lockdowns and pandemic panic.
I will say that labor and economic stresses = Go woke, go broke, Bitches.
I can guarantee you that it's not just the crime and Antifa and all that is killing businesses, but the CAT tax they passed a couple of years that bascially robs businesses of their gross income (not net, but gross) if its more than a million in revenue a year, which is a pretty low bar for businesses. The company I worked at had to shell out a 20K check it's first year to cover that tax. With how expensive that place is to do business, it crushed these businesses even harder than ever. Another 4-10k a quarter for most real businesses. A restaurant with already tight margins isn't going to be able to afford it and it's just more reason to say screw it and close the business because you aren't really making any money anymore. Oregon is screwing all of their local home grown businesses with this and it's purely ironic because most of the dipshit kids out there ain't got the faintest idea of how a business works so its very easy to get them to raise taxes because "muh fascist business should be taxed more". Meanwhile they allow homeless RVs and tents to trash the city and environments so many people are simply leaving and getting the hell out like my wife and I did. They can have fun living in their own mess.
I wouldn't be surprised... but let's face it.. people can abuse these businesses, walk in and steal, dine and dash.. and police won't do anything if it's under $5,000 ? won't even show up... It could easily be crime pushing them out but they won't say so because they don't want to be " racist "
I see where you're coming from, sometimes I think it's just people paying off the mob so they can do business. in the long term it doesn't seem to work out.
Most are closing down due to theft and the massive homeless problem. Drugs lead to theft to support the drug habits, mostly in the homeless population. Portland is too dangerous to visit which leads to loss of customers for the businesses left.
Really itβs Portland, not necessarily the whole state of Oregon. Most of Oregon is conservative but the 2 counties that include Portland have enough votes to run the whole state politically. Maricopa county in Arizona is a similar example of a very large liberal county that runs the whole state.
I agree with the fraud but outside Portland, Eugene and Bend Oregon is conservative. They slipped in the mail voting as being more convenient for people but it just solidified their liberal hold.
These businesses still donβt understand, as they continue to pander. They need not worry about pandering to protect their business, because they will have no business to protect. Go woke, go broke. We will not support business with beliefs and actions that oppose the majority.
We just see the banal statements of "so and so is closing some stores or 100 yr old business is closing" but the overall effect is that the economy is getting smaller.

Good. They were always blue hair and looked like a joint for hook-up of all kinds. They deserved to go. The pizza itself worse than Domino.

It's like Oregon has become too toxic and corrupt to run a profitable business in.
Really itβs Portland, not necessarily the whole state of Oregon. Most of Oregon is conservative but the 2 counties that include Portland have enough votes to run the whole state politically. Maricopa county in Arizona is a similar example of a very large liberal county that runs the whole state.
No they donβt. Oregon has universal mail in voting like Washington. Massive fraud there.

Chicago too.

Oh my.
No! Wrong move! Stay and reap the consequences of what you helped create!
Seems Joe Q Public bent over and patted his ass to show Hotlips where they could plant those hot lips.
The economy is contracting.
It is happening everywhere.
We just see the banal statements of "so and so is closing some stores or 100 yr old business is closing" but the overall effect is that the economy is getting smaller.
The days of wine and roses are over...
