Interestingly enough the UT Clock Tower shooting in 1966 could classify as a school shooting. What is interesting is Texans showed the US how to deal with school shootings way back then. Civilians played a part in stopping the carnage, and when word went out about the shooting people with hunting rifles showed up and started shooting at the shooter. That actually kept him from killing more people because he was taking fire from all over a 5-block radius.
These days if there was a shooting and someone went out to their car to retrieve a gun they would end up either shot by the cops (who are shooting at anything that moves) or they would be arrested on gun charges.
I wasn't born until after the 60s but it sounds like a much better time, especially with the cops actually working with civilians instead of arresting them.
The UT Clock Tower shooter went looking for help because he kept on having violent thoughts, but everyone he went to dismissed him. Turns out he had a brain tumor.
Actually, that's not true - there were mass shooters, but they were called "FEDS." Rip Waco.
