Ukraine isn't receiving a lot of newer supplies. All they are receiving are older Cold War stockpiles form NATO and older weapon systems.. The most reliable weapons for Ukraine armed forces has been Soviet era weapons as well. The Ukrainians are even repurposing old WW2 era ant air into artillery.
The Russians are using Soviet era munitions which isn't inferior when talking about artillery warfare.
A tool is a tool so don't think about what is "inferior" or superior. The wonder weapons that Ukraine is obtaining isn't going to make a lick of a difference to change things.
What newer equipment they have received (M777 howitzers, HIMARS rocket launchers) have been targeted for destruction as soon as they are detected on the battlefield. They take drone videos of M777s being blasted by precision artillery (destroying also the gun crew, most likely). According to Colonel Douglas MacGregor, the Russians have perfected a battle management control loop that feeds directly from comprehensive surveillance into target identification and fire control. There is no way the Ukrainians can bring their equipment to the front without the Russians being able to knock it out before it gets there. NATO looks on in dread.
